Fancy Green Favs

We've been very busy testing and reviewing fancy green products for you, dear readers.  This week our favs are: Organic Cotton Produce Bags by Blue Lotus, drinking glasses by The Green Glass Company, Revengeis tees for women and men, and a stainless steel food jar by Zojirushi.

Check back next week for more reviews!!!  And please let us know if there's an eco-minded company we should check out.

Save Our Water

I just watched Flow, an award-wining documentary on the global water crisis, and I'm really mad about all the ways corporations (such as Nestle, Coca Cola, and Pepsi) and governments around the world are turning water into a commodity, and in the process, destroying the environment, displacing communities, and ignoring regulatory laws like The Clean Water Act.

A few things you might want to know:
One, pesticides and Prozac are ending up in water supplies.
Two, drilling for natural gas is polluting well water and rivers with toxic chemicals (not to mention the BP oil spill, which is wreaking havoc on marine and human life and livelihood).
Three, we're going to run out of potable water. What are you going to do about it?

There are many, many more water issues, such as: access and sanitation for people in developing countries, aquifer depletion, global warming, ...

Don't assume that the government is looking out for your safety.  Just because there are laws and regulations in place doesn't mean that there aren't exceptions, loopholes, and neglect.

Learn more about what you can do to conserve, get mad at the companies and governments who are not protecting our water, and then get in touch with congress.

Here's where you can learn more:

Seattle Green Festival

Hi, sorry I haven't posted anything for a few weeks.  We've been overwhelmed with lots of fancy green gear to test and review on Fancy Green, such as: Nau's women's Lilt V-Neck Tee, Nau's women'es Bi-Carious Shirt, Levi's men's 511 Skinny eco jean, a variety of packs and bags by ChicoBag, and more.....

Went to GreenFest yesterday...was sorry to notice that many of my friends from years past weren't there and that attendance was down due to the fabulous weather we were having, but the upside was--it was easy to move around the floor and I met some people who hadn't exhibited before (or whom I had missed at last year's event).  Talked to a really nice guy from Canvas Dreams, a sustainable web hosting company, and was happy to sample some yummy carrot juice and a vegan peanut butter cookie from Chaco Canyon Cafe!

Also sampled Viovi, a fresh-squeezed blood red orange juice from Italy.  LOVED it.  At first I thought it was tomato juice because it has the same color and opaqueness...but, wow, is it delicious.  So much richer than orange juice -- and it seemed less acidic but maybe that's because I just drank a shot-glass size amount.  Blood red oranges are filled with good things...which you can read about on the Viovi site.  There you'll also find recipes for all sorts of tasty treats, including some fun vodka and tequila drinks.  Nice.
