Students of Design, Sustainability, etc -- want an internship?

We're looking for a few good interns.  Design students, writers, photographers, etc.

Intern for Fancy Green (Unpaid)

Fancy Green is on online guide to eco living, featuring reviews of eco fashion, eco apparel, natural body products, earth-friendly home cleaning products, and more.

Our Motto: "You don't have to live a beige little life to be green ~ You can be Fancy Green."

Our Goal: To show people how to live stylishly while also saving the planet.

We are looking for a few interns with excellent research and communication skills to help us add more content to the site. (Writing and web skills also appreciated!) Some of projects we need help with:

* Researching and writing information pages for the site about various eco and sustainable fabrics and other topics. EX: organic cotton, repurposed fabric, fair trade, etc.
* Researching and writing about various fabrics and eco concerns in the outdoor apparel industry.
* Preparing interview questions and transcribing interviews.
* Researching and assembling databases (eco fashion designers, eco apparel designers, eco boutiques, eco fashion publications/blogs, etc., fabric associations, etc.).
* Writing for Fancy Green’s blog.
* Editing photos in Photoshop.
* We’re also open to your ideas about how we can make our site better and how we can reach more readers and boost our visitor stats.

Here are some of the fashion companies sending us gear in the next month: Debra Lindquist, John Patrick, Nudie jeans (Sweden), Loomstate, Vuori, Preloved (Canada), Nate Organics (Canada), and a few companies that make handbags.

Visit our site, www.fancy-green.com, and send resume and brief note to friendsoffancygreen@gmail.com. THANKS.

Save the Polar Bears

Check out these sites to save the polar bears....

From Save the Polar Bear:
"Polar bears are dying. As global warming accelerates, the sea ice they depend on for survival is literally melting away. Bears are starving and drowning as they have to swim farther and farther to reach solid ice. Some are even turning to cannibalism in a desperate search for food. Those trapped on land hundreds of miles from the nearest ice often wander near villages in search of food and are shot.

As if that weren’t enough, oil and gas drilling is destroying and polluting their fast-dwindling Arctic habitat.

A third of all polar bears — including all bears in Alaska — will be extinct by 2050 if current trends continue. The rest of the species will be gone by the end of the century."

Eco Portland, Part One

Just spent two glorious days in Portland!  Loved it.  The people were friendly, I had several meetings with reps from eco fashion and eco apparel companies (Nau, Icebreaker, Sameunderneath), I stayed in a LEED-certified hotel, I ate tons of gelato (see the picture at bottom right -- from mio gelato's web site), and the land is flat.  And the buildings are short - 3 or 4 stories max for most of them.  My kind of town.

Check the main site this weekend for reviews of some of the products I reviewed on this trip -- some food storage containers, some eco body products, some eco apparel items, and more.  And Josie Maran make up remover/cleaning wipes, pictured top left.

And soon, I'll post a review of my favorite travel bag by ChicoBag.  It's a day pack that comes in a pouch!

So much to do, so little time.....

Today's Green Report

I've fallen in love.....again.  This time it's not an organic cotton tee or a merino wool 1/2 zip or even a repurposed fabric garment.  It's not even eco, really.  It's just green and totally delicious.

I haven't been posting the past few days because I've been eating and eating....I can't get enough of Trader Joe's Avocado Salsa Verde (you'll find it in the refrigerated section with other fresh salsas).  So YUM.  I've had it with their super salty organic blue chips, their soy/flax seed chips, their crunchy curls, and I've dipped my naanwiches into it.
